Gary Sforzo

Gary A. Sforzo, Ph.D. is Professor Emeritus in the Department of Exercise & Sport Sciences at Ithaca College.  He was a founding member of the department and was instrumental in developing the Clinical Exercise Sciences and Strength and Conditioning academic programs and curriculum. 

Dr. Sforzo has published extensively in fitness, wellness, exercise programming, and exercise physiology with more than 50 peer-reviewed publications over 30 years. Over the past 10 years, he has developed a primary interest and passion for the health and wellness coaching.  Published in two installments (2017, 20919), the Compendium of Health and Wellness Coaching Literature is a prime example of Sforzo’s work in the field.

Dr. Sforzo works as a consultant to those seeking to create and organize research and related writing projects.  A long-time affiliation with Wellcoaches as Research Advisor is a primary outlet for these endeavors and allows him to focus much of his work on health and wellness coaching.
