  • Our final—and most popular—webinar of 2022 featured the renowned Dr. Richard Tedeschi, Professor Emeritus in the Department of Psychological Science at the University of North Carolina and Distinguished Chair of the Boulder Crest Institute for Posttraumatic Growth. A perfect webinar to end a challenging and traumatic year for many — with the pandemic still lingering and social, economic, and political upheaval in full swing—Dr. Tedeschi reminded us poignantly of the important role that coaches can play as “expert companions” for our clients. If you missed this talk, you can watch it here.

As we prepare to begin a new year, we pause to reflect on the power and possibility of shifting a traumatized world, with the support of coaching, towards growth. IOC Fellow, Theresa Ramos, summarizes this theme perfectly:

"Post traumatic growth is more than resilience. Resilience is the ability to recover from a set back and get back to the previous state. Post traumatic growth is going one step further: it is making sense of the traumatic event that happened to us, creating new beliefs about us and the world, and developing new skills and abilities as a result.”

Here at the IOC we are committed to taking off well in 2023, with webinars on the role of coaches in alleviating unconscious bias and creating more inclusive organizations, a live seminar series on relational intelligence, CoachX talks on helping business thrive in complexity and the rise of evidence-based coaching. We are also planning a special Harvard Medical School sponsored virtual coaching conference in April focused on creativity and innovation.

All of our programs are designed to help shift yourself and your clients into growth mode, with revitalized energy, enthusiasm and most importantly — a sense of possibility. Together, let’s fly.

    Warmly,
    The IOC Team

To thrive in complex and uncertain situations, we know that organizations do best when those at the ‘edges’ – who are close to customers and markets – can make decisions independently.  A few organizations are figuring out how to do this by creating ‘permissionless’ structures, in which teams can self-manage, which speeds up responsiveness and boosts their ability to serve customers well.

Whitney Johnson interviews Carol Kauffman and David Noble on Real-Time Leadership and how leaders can find their winning moves when the stakes are high.

When the seas are in turmoil, how do you keep a steady hand on the tiller? We need to create space between what is thrown at us and how we respond. What makes a leader great under high stakes situations? David and Carol spent five years studying this question and created a 4 part model “MOVE” that helps leaders overcome their automatic reactions and find new ways to approach and solve challenges.
