  • In a few short weeks, from April 27-29, we can’t wait to see you at our 2023 Institute of Coaching conference in collaboration with McLean and Harvard Medical School, our 14th Coaching in Leadership and Healthcare conference.

Our 2023 theme is: Innovation: Self, Community, World. We hope your curiosity is piqued as we wonder: What sparks your creativity? What ignites passion in your clients, in your community, in your self? How do you want to make a difference?

Our incredible line-up of speakers will dive deep, offering keynotes and panels where you will hear about innovations in coaching science, DEI, well-being, mental health, leadership, sustainability, and more. Each of our speakers, whether a coach, educator, entrepreneur or scientist, has unlocked their creative spirit and stepped up to make a huge difference in their field and in the world. We are inspired by them and know you will be too.

This coming month, in anticipation of our big event, our offerings are all designed to help you push your own creative edge, bringing thought leaders on  anti-racism in coaching, and coaching for early career success. LinkedIn live discussions will focus on how to stay optimistic in the midst of disruption and exploring the  future of coach development. We are also thrilled to bring our popular live seminar series vertical development for coaches to Asia, an important stepping stone in our commitment to becoming a global community of coaches.

Sparking innovation, in ourselves, and in our clients, is key to our success as coaches, for as agents of change, we continuously work at getting past our growth edges.

Our very special guest at the upcoming conference, Graça Machel, global advocate for women's and children's rights, widow of Nelson Mandela, and Former First Lady of Mozambique and South Africa, speaks about just this sort of commitment: "My challenge to each of you is that you ask yourself what you can do to make a difference. And then take that action, no matter how large or small."

You can count on enjoying the upcoming programs. Even better, let’s all come together for an inspirational conference in April!

  • What happens when we are faced with a serious business problem or challenge? Do we let fear paralyze us and descend into pessimism? Or do we choose to be optimists by seeing each challenge as an opportunity, and how do we do that? In a creative demonstration of the power of design, Ayse (Eye-shay) Birsel shows how successful leaders can turn pessimism into optimism using accessible design tools we can all use. Leveraging her expertise in designing everything from concept cars to toilets to office systems, Birsel explains why we need to love problems. Empathy, Open Mind, Play, Collaboration, and Holistic Thinking are tools we can use to go from problem state to ideation space....

When the seas are in turmoil, how do you keep a steady hand on the tiller? We need to create space between what is thrown at us and how we respond. What makes a leader great under high stakes situations? David and Carol spent five years studying this question and created a 4 part model “MOVE” that helps leaders overcome their automatic reactions and find new ways to approach and solve challenges. • As an industry, professional coaching has exploded over the last 40 years, largely because of the array of positive outcomes linked to working with a coach. Approximately one-third of organizations are training managers to incorporate coaching skills into their leadership style (HCI & ICF, 2018). In their new book, The Coaching Shift : How A Coaching Mindset and Skills Can Change You, Your Interactions, and the World Around You, Dr. Waters and Dr. Riordan argue that anyone, regardless of role or level, can adopt a more coach-like approach to help them build more meaningful relationships and have smoother, more effective, and higher impact interactions with others....
