  • Coping with Pandemic Fatigue

As we near the end of 2020, normalcy remains elusive. After so many months of instability, many are feeling the strain of the pandemic. Recently, this has been addressed as ‘Pandemic Fatigue.’ Much of the hope and unity that allowed us to overcome the early challenges this year have given way to emotional exhaustion.

With constantly shifting challenges, the science of emotions offers genuine hope – several paths through a tough emotional landscape. Even when circumstances restrict us, intentional processing and regulation of emotions can improve our ability to navigate the outside world.

Fortunately, we are bringing to you the wonderful work of two world-leading emotion scientists, authors, and teachers - Marc Brackett and Lisa Feldman Barrett. Their webinars in November and December will build on their 2019 conference talks, and refresh and upgrade your skills for navigating difficult emotions.

  • Mountain peak with clouds

Czech authors Honsová and Jarošová published a lovely qualitative paper on peak coaching experiences (2018). Here is a summary of the research, as well as actionable tips for coaches.

Their scientific translations inspire us all to develop more awareness of our biases, and set our biases aside in order to treat every person as unique and valuable. Let’s start with awareness and understanding of five universal features of bias.

  • Strategies to Develop Emotional Intelligence

Emotions inform our thinking and decisions, the quality of our relationships, our physical and mental health, and our creativity and everyday performance. What we do with our emotions is especially important. The goal of my presentation is to (1) inspire a new mindset around the power of emotions to transform our lives, (2) describe five key underlying emotion skills, known as the “RULER” skills, which help us to better understand our own and others’ emotions, and (3) provide innovative strategies for developing emotional intelligence so that emotions help, rather than hinder, our well-being and success....
