Bridging the Gap: Coaching Practitioners as knowledge-producers, not just consumers of Coaching Research
The remarkable growth of coaching has mandated the need for coaching to be grounded in scientific evidence-base. Major purchasers of coaching services are asking for the evidence-base that underpins coaching that they are buying in.
Coaching practitioners hold deep knowledge, insights, lived experience and perspectives that could contribute to and enrich coaching research, often lacking time, and resources or researcher’s mindset. They often resort to consuming academic coaching research to supply the answers needed.
What if coaching practitioners become researchers? Academic research, we know, is very rigorous and time consuming, while practitioner researchers may want to address relevant questions quickly to serve their stakeholders. Yet when it comes to research, rigour and standards need to be followed.
How might we bridge this gap? And create a synergy that is a win-win for our coaching practice, academic research and the coaching industry.
Join us for a thought-provoking online roundtable on March 19th at 7 PM SGT, where we’ll explore:
- Coaching research in Asia - are we publishing enough?
- How practitioner research findings can directly impact our coaching practice and the organizations we work with
- Pathways for practitioner-led research
- Research methodologies that coaches can use
- Brainstorm current coaching research topics
Whether you’re already integrating research into your practice or simply curious about how to start, this session will offer valuable insights and learnings. This is an opportunity to engage in a dynamic conversation about creating synergy between coaching practice, academic research and inform organizations.
