Research Sessions
Presentations of research on all aspects of Coaching are invited for the eighth annual Coaching in Leadership and Healthcare Conference: Theory, Practice and Results offered by the Institute of Coaching, McLean Hospital, and Harvard Medical School on September 25th-26th, 2015 at The Renaissance Boston Waterfront Hotel, Boston, Massachusetts.
Types of Submissions
The purpose of these sessions is to encourage exchange of information about theory and research relevant to the field. Content of the papers and posters needs to apply to the coaching field:
- Leadership Coaching
- Health and Wellness Coaching
- Positive Psychology Coaching
- Life Coaching
- Other Relevant Fields
We invite submissions of proposals for:
- Oral Paper Presentations: Accepted papers will be presented in oral sessions according to topics.
- Posters: Accepted posters will be arranged in an exhibit during the Poster Session with opportunities to interact with authors and audience.

- Papers and posters can describe original empirical research (quantitative, qualitative or mixed-methods research), meta-analyses, and theoretical discussions.
- Each author can submit up to two different submissions of paper and/or poster.
- Primary authors must be investigators who are currently affiliated with academic institutions, are doctoral level professionals (PhD, MD, EdD) in other institutions, or are graduate students and other professionals with doctoral level mentors.
- Empirical research should be completed or well under way rather than at the beginning stages. It must include analyses and a summary of findings. Stating "the data will be analyzed" or "findings will be presented/discussed" is not sufficient research to submit for either the poster or paper presentation.
- The submission cannot have been presented at any previous Institute of Coaching conference.
- The submission cannot have been previously published.
- The study must have followed the standards of ethics in research with human beings and obtained appropriate ethical approval if it is an empirical study.
- The Scientific Advisory Council of the Institute of Coaching will review all paper and poster submissions and select those to be presented at the conference as well as the winners of the Best Poster Competition and Honorary Mention winners.
- Submissions that promote commercial interests or that feature proprietary materials will not be accepted.
- Presenting authors of all accepted papers and posters must register and pay the conference registration fee.

Oral Paper Guidelines Papers can describe original empirical research (quantitative, qualitative or mixed-methods research), meta-analyses, and theoretical discussions. Oral presentations of papers will take place during the paper sessions in 20-minute slots. The Application form will ask for: Author(s) details can include up to 5 authors. The first author is the presenting author. Title - up to 30 words The following fields are up to 300 words each: Background and Objectives include the objectives of the study, main research questions, hypotheses, or theory being tested. Design and Methods include design, participants, measures, data collection and analysis. Findings: Quantitative studies should include a description of the results; qualitative studies should include a description of the main findings such as the themes or categories generated. Note: it is not acceptable to state "findings will be presented." Discussion: Discussion and conclusions regarding the implications and possible contribution to Coaching. Please do not include a list of references at the end. Abstract: short abstract of no more than 150 words. |
