Business, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu & Brain Cancer…

In the late 90s Jamie helped build and sell his first tech business. He then invested  the proceeds into the 2000 tech bubble, only to witness it burst later that year. However, the turn of the 21st Century was the beginning of Jamie’s real journey. Later that year, he started training in the martial art of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu  (now a black belt), he also started the practice of yoga and meditation, as well as a conversion to Buddhism. Professionally, 2000 was the year Jamie commenced coaching and his post-graduate education in a Masters of Nutrition and Management. This Masters built on his undergraduate degree in business and organisational psychology, but also added to his holistic and commercial approach.   Another key contribution to his life was when his daughter,  Ella, was diagnosed and treated for a brain tumour in 2008. The journey with brain cancer has been life defining for himself, his daughter and his family. Although her life was saved and prolonged for 12 years, she tragically died in 2020. Jamie actively raises money and awareness for The Charlie Teo Foundation in support of the world class surgeon whom saved his daughter’s life. Jamie is also collaborating with a Professor of Bio-medicine at MIT, Professor Jeff Karp, to develop a brain data based coaching dashboard.
