Dr. Joanne Irving is a psychologist and the founder of Insight to Action Advisory LLC, a coaching and consulting firm for senior executives at mid- and large-size organizations. She has worked in the Washington D.C. area for over three decades helping influential and accomplished leaders overcome some of their most difficult challenges.

Dr. Irving’s typical engagement is as advisor to the chief executive, key leaders and managers assisting them with a variety of organizational issues including leadership development and succession planning; creating high performance teams, conflict resolution, critical complex problem solving, and engendering cultures of excellence. When working with boards, her typical engagement focuses on elevating performance and creating strategy. Clients come from large, Fortune 500 and mid-size companies, government agencies, trade associations and nonprofit organizations. She has worked with a broad range of industries, including healthcare, utilities, defense, and a variety of government contracting and professional services.

Dr. Irving is certified in the use of Cultural Transformation Tools, Leadership Agility, iEQ9 Enneagram for individuals and teams, and Hogan Assessments. In addition, she is a certified Action Learning consultant and coach. Joanne has served on the Board of the World Institute for Action Learning and was the Director of that organization's annual professional conference for two years. She has been a member and president of a number of community service, charitable and professional boards of directors.

Dr. Irving has a Bachelor’s of Arts degree from Tufts University where she graduated summa cum laude and a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of Maryland. Her academic training—grounded in group dynamics, intergroup relations, and individual functioning¾ included research in the areas of service delivery systems, consumer satisfaction, program evaluation, and organizational culture analysis. She completed her internship at Johns Hopkins University Hospital.
