Over the past 30 years, Michael has been an internationally sought-after executive coach, strategy and leadership consultant, and keynote speaker. His practical, business experience is in consulting, advising, coaching executives, and certifying coaches with a focus on: leadership development, strategic planning, goal alignment and team execution, clarifying vision, mission and values, and in building high trust, performance-based teams, cultures, and organizations. Mr. Simpson was on faculty for three years instructing senior executives with the late Dr. Stephen R. Covey, Dr. Ram Charan, and Dr. Mette Norgaard at FranklinCovey’s Executive Leadership Summit held at Deer Valley and Sundance, Utah ski resorts. For four years, Michael was the lead faculty, instructor, and executive coach for the FranklinCovey-U.S. Department of Defense’s Vanguard Senior Executive (SES) Leadership Program in Washington, DC. Michael has instructed and coached some of the most senior U.S. military officers and civilian leaders across the U.S. government from the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, NASA, NATO, DIA, DLA, DOJ, OPM, ICE-Homeland Security, and other government agencies.  

Mr. Simpson was formerly a Principal Consultant for the global management consulting firm, PricewaterhouseCooper’s (PwC) Strategic and Organizational Change Practice in New York City, NY.  He was a Senior Consultant with Ernst & Young (EY) Change Management Practice in Washington, D.C. Michael has held executive leadership positions for three leading technology companies as: Chief Strategy Officer, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, and Vice President of Business Development. Michael has been a Chengdu, China licensee partner with FranklinCovey working across China certifying leaders withing universities and organizations in The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People and Emotional Intelligence training for three years. He's been a visiting business professor for one-year at South China’s University of Technology in Guangzhou, China (1995-96). The Chinese Government’s Commission of Higher Education awarded Michael one of the top 10 foreign teachers among 150 professors in Guangdong Province. Michael was an external consultant at Nike in Guangzhou, China where he designed and developed a year-long Chinese high-potential management program. Michael's been an adjunct professor at Columbia College’s School of Business Administration in Leadership and Organizational Behavior. He’s been a visiting instructor in leadership at Hong Kong University, University of Malaysia, Northwestern’s Kellogg School of Business, BYU’s Marriott School of Business, Fulton’s School of Engineering, Kennedy School of International Relations, and Utah State’s Executive MBA Program. Michael holds a master’s from Columbia University with honors in Organizational Behavior, and a bachelor’s from Brigham Young University’s Kennedy School of International Relations. He holds a post-graduate, professional education certificate from Harvard University in Strategic Leadership. He holds a graduate studies certificate in Conflict Resolution and Mediation from Columbia’s International Center for Cooperation and Conflict Resolution (ICCCR). Michael holds a post-graduate studies certificate in Executive Coaching from Columbia University’s Coaching Certification Program, and is currently a partner and thought leader with the Columbia's Coaching Learning Association (CCLA), and a Fellow with Harvard's Institute of Coaching (IOC) in partnership with McLean Hospital and Harvard Medical School. He is a certified coach with the following Coaching Certification Programs, including: Gallup’s Strengths-based Coaching Program; Marshall Goldsmith’s Stakeholder-Centered Coaching Program; Inside-Out GROW Coaching Program; and University of Maryland’s Art and Practice of Coaching Leaders. He lives near the beautiful Wasatch Mountains in Utah with his wife and four boys. Michael enjoys snow skiing, golf, travel, reading, and mountain biking.
