Since 1998, Rob Kramer has provided executive coaching, consulting and business training for a variety of sectors, specializing in academic leadership and team development. He has served for twenty years in academia, most recently as the founding director of the Center for Leadership & Organizational Excellence at NC A&T State University. Prior to that he was the director of Training & Organizational Development at the University of North Carolina, where he oversaw management, supervisory and leadership development for the University's 12,000 faculty and staff. Rob continues working in faculty leadership development at UNC Chapel Hill’s Institute for the Arts and Humanities, where he co-facilitates two programs: the Chairs Leadership Program and the Academic Leadership Program.

Rob is the author of Stealth Coaching (2nd edition, 2020), Management and Leadership Skills for Medical Faculty & Healthcare Executives (2nd edition, 2020), and Taking the Lead: A Guide for Emerging Leaders in Academic Medical Centers (2022). He has provided a leadership column for Advance healthcare magazine, and is a regular contributor of leadership articles for The Chronicle of Higher Education. In 2018, Rob collaborated with Dr. Ron Cacioppe to develop a 360 assessment instrument specifically designed for higher education senior leaders, called the Integral Higher Education Leadership Profile (IHELP).

Rob is an executive coach for the Center for Creative Leadership (CCL), an organization ranked among the best executive education providers in the world. For 15 years he was an executive coach and adjunct faculty member at the Federal Executive Institute, the premiere executive leadership training facility for the Federal government. Additionally, Rob has guest lectured at Yale University, the University of Virginia, Duke University, the University of Nebraska, and the University of Colorado, among other academic institutions.  

Rob received his B.A. in Psychology from the University of Delaware. Concentrating on Social Psychology, Rob's primary focus was examining group behavior, dynamics and interactions. He received an MFA in Dramatic Art from the University of North Carolina, was the founder and executive director of two non-profit arts organizations, and for many years co-hosted of the popular Artist as Leader/Art Restart podcast. Rob completed his studies in Organizational Development at UNC-Charlotte. He is an International Coach Federation (ICF) and CCL certified coach, and is an active member of the Institute of Coaching (Harvard), ICF, the Association of Leadership Educators, and the Organizational Development Network.
