Shoma heads the firm’s Leadership Development and Coaching practice. She focuses on advising executives in asset management, financial services, and private equity firms on scaling their leadership impact as they take on larger roles within an organization.

Prior to ghSMART, she co-headed the senior leadership development function (Pine Street) at Goldman Sachs. Over her eight years at Goldman Sachs, she focused on developing and coaching the firm’s partners, managing directors, and select external clients. Shoma’s research focuses on manager effectiveness in producer-driven cultures. Previously, Shoma was a management consultant for over a decade, as a Senior Manager at Deloitte Consulting and as an Associate at CSC Index. She has also held leadership and consulting roles in public sector organizations including the Federal Reserve Bank and the United Nations.

Her publications include a book chapter entitled "Leadership Acceleration at Goldman Sachs," in The Handbook of Teaching Leadership by Nitin Nohria, Scott Snook, and Rakesh Khurana; a Deloitte whitepaper entitled Talent Management in the Life Sciences; a case study on executive presence for the Center for Talent Innovation; and several book reviews and interviews while she was the Managing Editor for the Journal of International Affairs.

Shoma graduated from Northwestern University with a B.A. in economics and math. She earned her MBA at Columbia Business School and a Master in International Economics from Columbia University. She is a founding fellow at the Institute of Coaching, a member of the Forbes Coaches Council and has completed coaching certifications from the University of California at Berkeley, The College of Executive Coaching, and the Neuroleadership Institute. 

Born and raised in Myanmar, Shoma now lives in New York City where she counts short story writing, traveling, and foreign policy among her interests.
