Susan Leggett-Johnson, MD, MBA, is the CEO of PeakPath, LLC, a consulting firm specializing in physician coaching, leadership development, and diversity and inclusion strategies. Susan has deep experience in the medical field from her successful career as an Internal Medicine physician and Healthcare Executive. She is passionate about helping her clients develop in their careers, increase organizational effectiveness, and improve clinical outcomes for patients.
Susan began her medical studies in Louisiana, earning her MD from Louisiana State University. She completed her residency at Howard University and continued practicing medicine in the Baltimore/Washington D.C. area.
Her success as Physician Director, overseeing the operations of several large Medical Centers, helped solidify her path to Associate Medical Director (AMD) at Kaiser Permanente. In her role as AMD, Susan was responsible for overseeing the HR performance of the medical group, the development of leaders, mentoring of new and coaching of tenured physicians, implementation of and adherence to policies, procedures, and innovations, and led efforts to support the well-being of the medical group through the Physician Wellness Program. Other areas of focus included health equity and medical education opportunities for medical students, residents and attending physicians alike.
Susan is proud to have served as a leader on a variety of boards, committees, and councils with the Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group (MAPMG), including tenures as co-chair of the Permanente Physician Equity, Inclusion, and Diversity Inter-regional Committee. Member of the MAPMG Board of Directors and the Medicare Steering Committee.
In addition to her many professional accomplishments, Susan is an active volunteer. She has worked with The Maven Project, Montgomery County WorkSource Board and as a volunteer attending with George Washington University School of Medicine.
Susan has an MBA from Loyola University - Sellinger School of Business. She resides in the DC- Maryland metropolitan area.
