Brief Biography

Kim has over 35 years of professional leadership experience, including 20 years of applied leadership in the U.S. Marine Corps, from tactical troop handling to organizational command, and over 16 years as the president of her consulting company, Curriculum & Training Solutions, LLC, leading a variety of teams in several different organizations.  She has 6 years of faculty experience teaching leadership and telecommunications at two Marine Corps schools and at two universities.

Her experience in the Marine Corps provided extensive education and training in leadership, decision making in stressful situations, managing adversity, telecommunications, and information systems network development as well as human resources development and management.

Kim has been an executive leadership coach and leadership instructor since 2014 in support of Penn State’s Workplace Learning and Performance coaching program and the Department of Development and Alumni Relations. As a leadership coach, Kim utilizes assessments and supportive questioning to help her clients identify and recognize their strengths, clearly define goals, and establish a plan of action to support their growth to achieve their highest potential. Kim is certified by the International Coaching Federation (PCC), is an Accredited Facilitator for Everything DiSC products and Five Behaviors of a Cohesive Team, and is certified to administer and interpret the DISC and USDA’s Leadership Effectiveness Inventory.  She is also highly skilled in Strengths Finder and Emotional Intelligence.

In addition to her coaching, Kim has extensive experience in developing, conducting, and evaluating training and education programs and in conducting research for federal government agencies (DoD, FAI, and ACE) and Penn State University. Her research at Penn State includes evaluation of the Marine Corps Wounded Warrior program, defining quality in online education for the World Campus, and researching military personnel and veterans’ with disabilities and their interest in information technology career fields.

When not coaching, Kim enjoys spending time with her family, exercising outdoors, volunteering in her community, and traveling.
