Overview

Mike returned to executive coaching at the end of 2022 following a five year project leadership role for a major international bank in the Middle East. In 2023 he is re-energising his training on the Meyler Campbell "Mastered" Programme. As well as a track record in a number of leadership and senior management roles, Mike had been a practising leadership coach from May 2015 until the end of 2016. Part of an initial team chosen to build a leadership coaching practice in a major UK bank, Mike trained and qualified through the Association for Coaching. Mike is highly regarded for bringing the breadth of his business experience into his coaching dialogue, along with his ability to be flexible in approach and empathetic to his clients’ leadership challenges. Experienced in working in organisations and industries going through periods of transformation, Mike also brings an intimate experience to the coaching of his clients facing similar challenges. Mike’s personal coaching vision is to deliver better and more capable business leaders satisfied in their roles and clear on their goals, which in turn delivers better customer, people, and performance outcomes for coachees and organisations alike.

Background

Mike is an experienced business leader and senior manager with a practical and emotionally intelligent approach to coaching business leaders whether they seek to become better leaders, transition into leadership roles from the world of “managing and doing”, or prepare themselves to be leaders from within an organisation’s “talent pool”. MBA qualified, Mike has 40 years of business and leadership experience across many industries, international markets, and work and social cultures, and brings a deep experience of the client perspective to his coaching. He is, by nature, a team player with proven transferrable people skills. His style is collaborative and empathetic, having made a positive difference to organisations operating in Banking, Professional Services, Multiple Grocery Retail, Brewing, Media and multinational Textile Manufacturing. As well as leadership and coaching experience, Mike also differentiates himself with an eye for assessing situations quickly, building trust, and effectively executing plans with clarity, priority and gravitas.

Areas of coaching success and expertise

Mike focuses on the emotional intelligence and operational sharpness that good leaders deliver, embedded through clear vision and planning, rigorous follow up and the sharing of best practice. This practical approach manifests itself in Mike’s coaching through the recognition by leaders of who they are, and how self-awareness and knowledge can work together to motivate their people to bring the best out of themselves. This is supported by coaching good operational practice to remove anxiety often caused by a deficiency in time management, prioritisation, stakeholder management, and a consistent leadership style.
