Gail Gazelle, MD, FACP, MCC

Gail Gazelle, MD, FACP, MCC, is a Master Certified Coach and part-time Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School. Emphasizing emotional intelligence, growth mindset, and mindfulness amongst other tools, Dr. Gazelle has coached over 500 physicians and physician leaders. (www.gailgazelle.com.

Dr. Gazelle recognizes that problems in the current healthcare system leave many physicians in a vulnerable, no-win situation. She is passionate about helping physicians and physician leaders achieve the career and life satisfaction they desire.  Prior to becoming a coach, Dr. Gazelle devoted herself to care for the terminally ill, as a hospice physician and educator. She is an enthusiastic mindfulness practitioner and educator, and is a certified mindfulness meditation teacher through Jack Kornfield and Tara Brach.

Dr. Gazelle provides mentor coaching to individuals wishing to build their expertise in coaching physicians. 

Dr. Gazelle’s coaching has been featured in The Physician Leadership Journal and in an American College of Physicians webinar. Her 2015 article Physician Burnout: Coaching a Way Out was one of the first articles on coaching in a medical journal. Dr. Gazelle is the author of Building Your Resilient Self: 52 Tips to Move from Physician Burnout to Balance, available as a free PDF at www.gailgazelle.com, and the 2013 Harvard Health Guide Mindfulness Support for Alzheimer’s Caregivers. She has been featured on the NPR show “All Things Considered,” on CNN, and on Wisconsin and Michigan Public Radio. Her work has been highlighted in such publications as O, the Oprah Magazine; Business Week; The Baltimore Sun; and American Medical News.
